Branklyn Garden, Perth - History and creation, key plant groups and how it is managed today
Kate originally studied Soil Science at the University of Wales, Bangor before working in large scale organic agriculture on the Moray Coast.
Deciding there was a bit more variety in gardening, she retrained in horticulture at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and has spent the last 18 years working in public gardens in Scotland. This has included working in the rock and woodland garden at the Botanics in Edinburgh, being involved in the early stages of restoration at Cowden Japanese Garden and a year at Bannockburn House Trust before becoming Head Gardener at Branklyn Garden (National Trust for Scotland) in Perth, in March 2023.
