Garden Trails

There are three garden trails which are detailed in the Garden Guide (available from Reception).

Daffodils on Walk 1WALK 1

This route takes the visitor around the Walled Garden and upper Drive past the Astilbe Collection and Orchard slope which is full of daffodils in the Spring. This walk is suitable for the less mobile visitors and for those in wheelchairs.

The Upper GardenWALK 2

This route takes in the original rock gardens and has the most spectacular old Magnolias, Maples and Azaleas as well as Alpine screes, winter and summer heathers and beds of blue Meconopsis and Gentians.

The Gunnera PoolWALK 3

This route around the Lower Gardens completes the tour. It includes the Gunnera pool and Cascades and leads along the lower terrace to the Hydrangea Walk.

Throughout the gardens the visitor is aware of the stunning backdrop of the Lakeland fells.

A Tree Trail is also available at Reception.
